dime ante; (rotating, to the right) dealer calls the game and can overrule everything here on the hands they deal.

in games with wild cards, hands are ranked:

royal flush
five of a kind
straight flush
four of a kind
full house
flush
straight
three of a kind
two pair
one pair

within the categories, hands are ranked by (in order of priority): (1) number of "natural" cards; (2) rank of rank-highest natural card; (3) suit of suit-highest natural cards (diamonds, hearts, spades, clubs, high-->low).

when brent is dealing, ranking is as follows:

straight flush
five of a kind
four of a kind
full house
flush
straight
three of a kind
two pair
one pair

also when brent is dealing, or when anyone else calls it, there is a special hand called a "queer" which consists of any two of: the suicide king, the two one-eyed jacks, and the "queen of cautious wisdom" who is the one about to do the jnana mudra = queen of spades. this hand, by default, beats every other hand. if there are two queers, the hand containing the queen wins.
